چکیده

Original scientific paper Since an evident tendency of the shipbuilding is that the sizes of ships are larger and larger, the dynamic interactions between the propulsion system and ship hull in large scale ships are much severer than those of the small sized ships. Ship hull deformations caused by the action of heavy excited wave forces could affect the vibration characteristics of the propulsion system through bearings mounted on the ships. The reliability and safety of the propulsion system would be in a dangerous condition. In this paper, a novel simplified hull-propulsion system mathematical model is presented to investigate the dynamic interactions between the ship propulsion and hull deformations. Ship hull deformations were obtained as the excited forces under different sea conditions by numerical analysis. Then, based on the gained hull deformations, variable parameters involving stiffness of support bearings are considered on the vibration characteristics of propulsion. The findings of this work may provide a new insight to keep economy and security in both shipbuilding and ship operation fields.

Power Accounting for Ship Electric Propulsion

Coarse and accurate power accounting methods for ship electric propulsion are observed and compared. For the purpose of analysis, the propulsion system has been separated into two units, namely the ship load and the motor drive. In the load model, variation of such factors like static and dynamic hull resistance and efficiency is explored while the supply characteristics, drive loading, propell...

Model identification and dynamic analysis of ship propulsion shaft lines

Dynamic response analysis of mechanical structures is usually performed by adopting numerical/analytical models. Finite element (FE) modeling as a numerical approach plays an important role in dynamic response analysis of complex structures. The calculated dynamic responses from FE analysis are only reliable if accurate FE models are used. There are many elements in real mechanical structures w...

Investigating Nonlinear Vibration Behavior of Rotors with Asymmetry Shaft Considering Misalignment

In this paper, the nonlinear vibration behavior of a rotor with asymmetric shaft considering misalignment is studied. The system consists of a rectangular shaft and a disk which is connected to a motor through a flexible coupling. In order to consider higher order deformations, nonlinear Bernoulli beam is used for modeling the shaft. Gibbons’ equations are utilized to apply misaligned coupling ...

Free Vibration Analysis of a Six-degree-of-freedom Mass-spring System Suitable for Dynamic Vibration Absorbing of Space Frames

This study is concentrated on the natural frequencies and mode shapes of a simple three-member space frame coupled with a dynamic vibration absorber. The dynamic vibration absorber is modeled as a six-degree-of-freedom mass-spring system. For the first time, the free vibration of an elastic structure with a six-degree-of-freedom mass-spring system is found. Each member of the space frame has un...
